Biography of Sankha Ghosh

Sankha Ghosh was born in 1932 and lives in Calcutta; retired in 1992 from Jadavpur University’s Bengali Depart- ment as a Professor; visited Iowa University, U.S.A. on Writers Program in l967-68; Poet-in-Residence at Visva-Bharati University in 1984; Director of Rabindra Bhavan 1989-90, Santiniketan; researcher and Writer-in-Residence at Institute for Advanced Studies, Simla 1987-88; recipient of Rabindra Puraskar for- Poetry from W. B. Govern- ment, Narasingha Das Award for Poetry from Delhi Universlty, and Sahitya Akademi Award for Poetry in 1977.
