Biography of Sasa Ilic

Sasa Ilic (pronounced Sasha Ilich, Serbian Cyrillic:) is a Serbian football midfielder who currently plays for Galatasaray of Istanbul, Turkey.

Born December 30, 1977 in Belgrade, Ilic played for Partizan Belgrade for almost ten years, except for a brief spell at Celta Vigo of Spain in 2003-2004. He has played 19 matches for the Serbian National Team.

He is known as a skilled midfield playmaker as well as a prolific goal scorer. Ilic joined Galatasaray in the summer of 2005, and scored twice in his first Turkish league match that August. On joining Galatasaray, Ilic was offered the prestigious #10 shirt, but declined and chose to wear his old Partizan number 22. With 12 goals scored, he was the third goal scorer in Galatasaray in the season 2005/06.
